Vastu…

a bridge between science & spirituality

In this modern age of science and technology one rarely finds a person who is not suffering from one or the other physical, mental, social or psychological problem. Research shows that more than 80% of these problems have their roots somewhere in the mind and has a spiritual dimension. We all know that modern science and medicine predominantly looks only the physical aspect. Though in some cases it looks into psychological aspects also but the spiritual aspect remains untouched and unexplored.

Ancient Saints of India studied these aspects thoroughly and gave mankind the knowledge of spiritual living. Vastu Shastra, is one such treasure of knowledge which deals in designing and constructing homes in such a way that positive spiritual vibrations can be used for living healthy life. World is made of ‘Panchbhutas’ the five element of creation – Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Space. All these elements emit different types of vibrations, which may be positive or negative. Whenever there is an imbalance in these five elements of nature, the vibrations start moving in a haphazard manner and the result is misery and distress.

Our home emits various kind of vibrations depending upon the direction, layout and designing. A place having more spiritual vibrations can be beneficial for its inhabitants as it provides more happiness, health, prosperity and cordial relations apart from financial security and less obstacles. Vastu Shastra is the answer, the ancient science that unifies science, astronomy, art and astrology to live or work in a friendly setting, by taking advantage of the benefits bestowed by nature, its elements and various energy fields.

Vastu principals are applicable to various types of constructions like residential houses, industries, institutions, commercial complexes, malls, hospitals and other workplaces. To know Vastu one shall have the knowledge of astronomy and the solar system. We all know that the Earth revolves around the Sun, while rotating on its axis, with a tilt of 23.5 degrees. The direction of spinning is from West to East. Modern cars we know are lower from front than the rear to counter the resistance caused by wind. Same rule applies in Vastu which guides to keep East part of a building to be lower than the West because the Earth is spinning from West to East.

All built up spaces have a centre of energy which is affected by pleasant and distressing energies. These energies are emitted by various energy fields like, the plot on which the house is built, Earth’s energy field, Sun and Moon’s energy field. Energies are also emitted from different frequencies of thoughts of people living, working or visiting the premises. To create a perfect balance of these energies, Vastu lays stress on the choice of land as the most important aspect. One has to check what kind of frequencies the land attracts. A quadrangular or rectangular plot is considered better than other shapes because it creates positive effects. Soothing vibrations are created in a plot which is lengthy in North – South direction. A small plot between two large ones is to be avoided as it is considered to cause distress.

The spiritual vibrations of premises are also affected by the kind of material used in construction, direction of the main door, kitchen, work area, bedroom, toilet etc. Stone and mud is considered to attract more positive vibrations than cement. ‘Vastu Dosh’ in premises are considered to cause different types of physical and psychological problems to their residents. Proper orientation is possible only if one has proper knowledge of all the eight directions.

The five elements of nature guide the life of humans and other living organisms and influence their actions, behaviour and other basics of life. Proper balance of various types of energies like, Solar, Lunar, Electric, Magnetic, Thermal, Wind, Light and Cosmic energies emitted from these five elements can be utilised to attain peace, harmony, happiness, healthy and spiritual life.

Vastu is not based on assumptions but on proven scientific facts. Truly, it can serve as a bridge between man and nature, science and spirituality.
