Cow Care

AAS Ashram is working towards creating a healthy habitat for abandoned and distressed animals across India. Apart from taking care of cows in our own and partner Gaushalas, we also guide Gaushalas around the length and breadth of the country to incorporate a sustainable, healthy and safe environment to the animals.

We also impart technical know-how, training on producing and marketing Panchgavya products. Panchgavya means, five products obtained from the cow, viz. dung, urine, milk, ghee and curd. Theseare known to promote a wholesome living since time immemorial. Additionally, it creates employment opportunities for shelter staff.

Everything cow produces is for the benefit of mankind. No wonder our holy scriptures equate the cow with the mother who always lives for the wellbeing of her children. We get nourishment from the cow in the form of milk and other dairy products, medicines form cow urine, pesticides, manure and energy from cow dung in the form of organic fertilizer and biogas.

Such beneficial cow suffers unimaginably at the hands of humans. They are injected with hormones to get higher milk production. They are left to fend for themselves at garbage dumps. When they stop giving milk, they are butchered mercilessly for their skin, meat and bones.

As its duty towards this humble animal, AAS Ashram supports many Gaushalas in Vrindavan. Apart from food and medicines for the animals, monetary aid is also granted. Expert guidance is given to run the Gaushalas in a professional manner with proper hygiene. Awareness camps are organised among people to promote cow products.Cow and bull dung is used to produce natural manure for organic farming.

More than 100 volunteers of AAS Ashram are engaged in spreading awareness towards Cow care. More than 1500 cows are actively taken care of at various associated Gaushalas. Free animal welfare workshops are conducted in schools and colleges. People are motivated to supply fodder to stray and abandoned cattle.

AAS Ashram aims to reinvent the concept of “Vedic Gaon”.
